The temperature during this time of year never drops below 22 degrees and is the most pleasant summer you can experience in all of India. I suggest visiting Ranikhet as soon as you are able.

The majestic Garhwal Himalayan Range is visible from all over the country, also you can see the majestic Nanda Devi Range, which best seen from the top of the Himalayas in northwest India.

Apart from the above mentioned prominent places, the Nanda Devi Mela, which is held in Ranikhet in September, is a special time of religious celebrations. You should also stop by and visit Pandavkholi, the secret place where the Pandavas spent their exile in the Mahabharata.

There are many good places in and around Ranikhet that attract thousands of mountain lovers from all around the world. Himalayan peaks with views of the city centre and nearby mountains such as Kumaon, Nandaghunti and Nilkanth are all so beautiful.

According to legend, Ranikhet was the place where the then Princess Rani Padmini fell in love with Raja Sudhardev and later chose it as her home. According to the people who live here, it is also the place where her daughter was born.

The literal meaning of Ranikhet means Queens Field and the story behind it is that Ranikhet got its name when Raja Sudhardev, one of the most powerful rulers of Rajasthan, saw the place and was impressed by its beauty. All the local rulers who visited it were so fascinated by him that they chose to stay here for the rest of their lives, and set up a settlement.

The Jhula Devi Temple, located only 7 km from Ranikhet, is estimated to be over 700 years old. It attracts tourists from the surrounding area as well as foreigners who want to get married and follow Indian traditions.

You should visit the Army Museum, which is fully housed in the Ranikhet National Museum, one of the oldest and largest military museums in the country.
