Rosecliff, Rhode Island 😚

A few days ago, I shared some photos from our recent trip to Newport, Rhode Island, with my mother and cousin. Jamie and I had a late lunch at 22 Bowens Wine Bar & Grille before visiting the Rosecliff Museum of Art, one of my favourite places on the island. Knowing my interest in everything Victorian, we were suggested to go to Newport to see some of their exhibits. Sources: 1, 3, 4

While the house itself is amazing, my favourite part of the property is the lawn at the back overlooking Newport Cliff Walk and the Atlantic Ocean. From this place you can see the sea, the beach and of course the Rosecliff Museum of Art, one of my favourite places on the island. Sources: 0, 3

Remember that you want to skip the crowds and offer your wedding guests some fun. Look for areas that offer activities such as visiting the villas or local vineyards or taking a walk along the Cliff Walk. If you’re considering a wedding venue in Newport, Rhode Island, be sure to look out for some of the major festivals taking place in and around Newport and Greater Rhode Island. It is important to know them so that the wedding date does not conflict with them. Preservation Society listed properties include the Newport Mansions in Newport, Rhode Island, the Belle Mer in Providence and the Old Town Hall in New Haven, Connecticut. A notable feature of the property is the 40 x 80 foot ballroom where Arnold Schwarzenegger starred with Tia Carrere in True Lies. It is also one of my favourite wedding venues in Newport and was used as a wedding venue as it has a heart-shaped staircase. Built by the Vanderbilts, it was the home of Gatsby, who danced with Daisy Buchanan and Mia Farrow. So I love nothing more than taking pictures on the docks, so I’m a big fan of the Newport Mansions in Rhode Island. Sources: 0, 3, 6, 10

Rosecliff Mansion is the epitome of a gilded mansion that makes you feel like you’re celebrating a real Newport wedding. The property is modeled after the grand ballroom of the famous New York hotel, and its central focus is the grand ballroom, the largest in Newport. Three words to describe the environment would be “classic,” “coastal” and “charming.” I actually think Sweet Berry Farm is one of my favorite places in Rhode Island, if not the entire state. It all began as a private residence of a family that refused to accept the rural community. It was once home to the fountains – too – including the Vanderbilts, who retreated here for a few years in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Sources: 7, 10

While the Vanderbilts built their magnificent mansions, the Chateau sur Mer was the grandest of all in Newport, and hosted many of Rhode Island’s most famous celebrities. From the mid-19th century, Newport attracted a new generation of affluent New Englanders, such as Thomas Edison, who built extravagant summer homes overlooking the Rhode Islanders’ Sound. Newport became a destination for the rich and powerful, but also for the poor and middle class. New multi-millionaires litter the Newport coastline with a succession of villas – some described as holiday cottages. Sources: 5, 6, 8
